Coupled strain and temperature gradient analysis in curved surfaces

چکیده

Abstract A common method in experimental mechanics is 3D digital image correlation (DIC) for determining deformations of curved surfaces, whereby the motion material points measured. The temperatures induced by deformation surfaces or other heat sources are particular interest as well. In this context, surface can be measured using infrared thermography systems. However, disadvantage approach that a thermographic camera only provides two‐dimensional temperature distribution (plane images) three‐dimensionally surfaces. Thus, and gradients on assigned to cannot specified. problems interest. literature, planar studied simplifying assumptions made so simple coupling DIC possible. contrast, contribution presents where coupled with such way temperature, gradient, well displacement strain distributions at determined over temporal processes. also allows continuous gradient determination entire domain, since special class functions named radial basis used interpolating data.

Low-Temperature Resistivity Anomalies in Periodic Curved Surfaces

Effects of periodic curvature on the the electrical resistivity of corrugated semiconductor films are theoretically considered. The presence of a curvature-induced potential affects the motion of electrons confined to the thin curved film, resulting in a significant resistivity enhancement at specific values of two geometric parameters: the amplitude and period of the surface corrugation. The m...

Orientational order on curved surfaces - the high temperature region

We study orientational order, subject to thermal fluctuations, on a fixed curved surface. We derive, in particular, the average density of zeroes of Gaussian distributed vector fields on a closed Riemannian manifold. Results are compared with the density of disclination charges obtained from a Coulomb gas model. Our model describes the disordered state of two dimensional objects with orientatio...
